Advanced Dental Technology
Precision Dentistry
When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Salo, Dr. Nelson, Dr. Besser, Dr. Salamati, Dr. Landa, Dr. Wu, and their staff utilize the latest technology to enhance the quality and fit of your dental care. Our practice uses high-power microscopes to enhance precision. Dentistry is micro-surgery, and with the aid of microscopes similar to those used by ophthalmologists, we can create restorations with an incredibly precise fit and finish — something not possible with the naked eye.
In addition, the microscope directs light directly onto the teeth, minimizing glare and enhancing comfort. For the most precise restorative procedures, we use electric hand-pieces instead of traditional air-driven drills. Electric hand-pieces rotate smoothly, resulting in more accurate tooth-to-restoration interfaces (crowns, veneers, or fillings). This means more comfort, less vibration, and less noise for you.
Digital Imaging & Digital X-Rays
Dr. Salo, Dr. Nelson, Dr. Besser, Dr. Salamati, Dr. Landa, and Dr. Wu carefully choose which and when radiographs are taken, following established safety guidelines. Radiographs help us detect cavities, assess bone levels, examine roots and nerves, diagnose cysts or tumors, and evaluate trauma. With digital imaging, radiation exposure time is reduced by about 50% compared to traditional methods, while offering high-quality diagnostic results.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays provide greater precision because images are viewed on a computer monitor rather than film. They also reduce radiation exposure by up to one-sixth compared to conventional methods, while making storage and transfer of images to specialists or insurance companies quick and efficient.
Laser Dentistry
For patients who prefer to avoid needles, drilling, or numbness, laser dentistry may be the right choice. Lasers deliver energy in the form of light, which can target enamel, decay, gum tissue, or whitening agents depending on the wavelength. Laser dentistry is suitable for both hard and soft tissue procedures. Often no anesthesia is required, and since there is no heat or vibration, procedures are typically more comfortable. For soft tissue treatments, suturing may not be necessary and healing is much faster.
Areas of Dental Care That Benefit from Laser Technology:
- Cavity diagnosis and removal
- Curing or hardening bonding materials
- Teeth whitening
- Periodontal (gum) treatments
- Pediatric procedures
- Canker sore treatment
- Frenectomy (tongue-tie release) without anesthesia or sutures
- Root canals and apicoectomies
- Crown lengthening, gingivectomy, and other gum reshaping
Dental lasers are safe and effective for both children and adults.
Intraoral Camera
Many patients, especially younger ones, are more comfortable in an office that uses advanced technology. Our doctors use intraoral camera technology to enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. The intraoral camera is a tiny device — just a few millimeters long — that captures clear, detailed images of your teeth and gums. This helps us explain conditions more clearly, detect issues sooner, and reduce chair time.
Images from the intraoral camera are stored in your permanent patient record and can be printed or shared with specialists, labs, or insurance companies as needed. This ensures continuity of care and transparency in your treatment.
